Approximately thirty years ago, a new one-story hospital was built to replace the old hospital which had served the community for decades. As is typical of such buildings, it ended up being used for other purposes, eventually ending up being an apartment building, before being demolished. A sad waste of a fine old building.

As always, when a building is pressed into a different service than the one it was designed for, strange, clumisily built additions start to appear. - Vicksburg Hospital 3/8

Look at the corbels over the windows, at the detailing on the soffits. We don't bother to build things this way anymore in a small town. Everything is utilitarian—and plastic.
