Look at the corbels over the windows, at the detailing on the soffits. We don't bother to build things this way anymore in a small town. Everything is utilitarian—and plastic. -

At one point this was a solid, glorious building, but it fell into neglect after the new hospital building was built. People lose interest in their old toy after they get a new one. -
